The global conference of young parliamentarians will be an official and permanent platform in the International Parliamentary Union aims at increasing quality and quantity of young people’s participations in parliaments and IPU. IPU sets the Annual Global Conference for enhancing the role of young parliamentarians and participations of young people in activities of parliaments as well as suggesting recommendations in the perspective of the youth on IPU agenda and activities; building network, unifying and improving capacity, delivering better access for young people to common issues. The target of empowering young people, expanding their participations in democracy processes and dealing with current global issues has been promoted and given concerns by IPU. Therefore, the Ninth Global Conference on Young Parliamentarians will be organized by the National Assembly of Vietnam in the coming September, 2023
The Ninth Global Conference on Young Parliamentarians takes place in the situation of dramatic changes in politics, economics and society. Political, economic and societal upheavals have set back anti poverty achievements recorded around the world, slowed down the progress of fulfilling sustainable development goals commitments, environment and response to climate change of countries in the world. The trend of digital transformation, green transition and mobility of supply chains is increasingly give priorities and furthered by countries around the world.
The first ever Global Conference on Young Parliamentarians will be held by the National Assembly of Vietnam which is the largest diplomatic event of the multilateral relations in 2023, showing the profound attention paid by the Party, State and National Assembly to the young people and Vietnamese youth, contributing to strengthening the cooperation relations of Vietnam with important partners; disseminating the images of Vietnamese youth to the world through dynamic and innovative young people’s campaigns. The organization of this event continues to demonstrate the active, proactive and accountable participation of Vietnam in IPU.
The National Assembly has decided to set up the Organization Committee of the Ninth Global Conference on Young Parliamentarians headed by Mr. Tran Thanh Man – Vice Permanent Chairman. The Committee has Panels such as Content Panel; Reception – Logistics – Security and Health Panel; Information and Dissemination and National Secretariats Panel.
Recently, the Organization Committee has approved the Overall Scheme on Preparations and Organization of the Conference; thereof, Panels and National Secretariats will propose the implementation plan in detail and all works of preparations and organization of the Conference.
The National Assembly of Vietnam has actively participated in activities under the framework of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) including the Global Conferences of Young Parliamentarians where Vietnamese delegations actively and proactively participated in and shared information and experiences, policies and directions of the country on the issues which were discussed at the floor; at the same time, raised visible recommendations to enhancing the role of young parliamentarians in dealing with global matters. At this event, Vietnam will proactively participate in making practical and realistic contributions to contents of the Conference, harmonizing the benefits of the country, region and the world at large; proving the position and role of the National Assembly of the host country; exchanging bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues among members of Vietnamese parliamentarians, Vietnamese youth with young parliamentarians from countries./.
