The National Assembly of Vietnam will organize the Ninth Global Conference on Young Parliamentarians from September 14th – 18th 2023 in Hanoi with the theme: “The Role of Young People in Promoting the Realization of Sustainable Development Goals via Digital Transformation and Innovations”

In April 1st 2015, Inter-Parliamentary Union’s 132nd Assembly, which was held in Vietnam, ratified the Hanoi Declaration on “Sustainable Development Goals: Transform Words into Actions”.

During the half of the implementation path of sustainable development goals by 2030, the progress should be further strengthened. The fact requires more breakthrough efforts made by international community with an attempt to fulfil sustainable development goals by 2030 in which the focus will be on digital transformation, technological application, innovations, looking for approaches, preserving and performing cultural and humanitarian values.

Young parliamentarians, as political leaders who are close to the young generation; having firm political stance and deep insights of technologies, who have capabilities to perform young talents to be a part of solutions to common issues.

The Ninth Global Conference on Young Parliamentarians will be a platform for young parliamentarians from all over the world to meet and discuss issues of parliaments with aim to enhance the role of young people in accelerating the sustainable development goals via digital transformation, innovations and cultural values and humanity.

The Conference will focus on three main topics:

Digital Transformation
The discussion session will focus on:
- Improvements of institutions, policies in accelerating the digital transformation with an attempt to strengthen sustainable development opportunities;
- Exchange experiences of parliaments from different countries in law making, supervision and the role of young parliamentarians in order to promote the digital transformation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4th IR).
- Share progress made so far in digitalization of works of parliaments for sustainable development.

Innovations and Start up
The discussion will focus on issues:
- Improvements of institutions, policies in accelerating innovations and start up (including start-up of the youth) as a drive to inclusive and sustainable development, combining foodtech.
- Exchange experiences of parliaments of countries in law making, supervision and the role of young parliamentarians in incentivizing innovations and start-up.
- Exchange and discuss on AI development that will play as a part of promoting SDGs fulfillment.
- Recommend parliaments on policies and solutions to making and perfecting institutions, policies to minimize risks related to AI.

Raise the respects to diversity of culture for sustainable development
The meeting session will center the role of parliament and young parliamentarians in encouraging diversity of culture in the context of technological transformation and globalization, namely:
- Digital cooperation based on ethnics and minimization of unexpected impacts from digital transformation to privacy, security and happiness.
- Present the role of culture in development policies at national, regional and international levels.
- Commit to protecting and representing diversity of culture; creating environment and ecosystem for culture.
- The role of culture and diversity of culture in sustainable development./.
